GP Week : Issue 210
Romain Grosjean has finally publically vented his frustration over Renault’s F1 Power units. The Frenchman spoke out after his qualifying laps, which saw him the slowest of the drivers in Q2, in 16th place. Last year, Grosjean qualified third fastest at singapore. After enduring a rough ride in the two sessions, Grosjean let fly over the radio: “I cannot believe it!” he said. “Bloody engine, bloody engine. We break our balls for this?” The team’s response was that his Pu was afflicted by a similar problem that interrupted his practice session to which he replied in frustration: “I don’t care, I don’t care; it’s too much ...” Ironically, Lotus has a deal in place to swap engine suppliers next year but Grosjean may not be around to sample Mercedes-Benz’s Pus. He is out of contract at the end of the season and the financially-challenged team is believed to be talking to a number of well-backed ‘pay’ drivers about 2015.
