MOTOGP >>> nEWs MOTOgp – RACE ROSSI FIRMS FOR RUNNER-Up SLOT Marc Marquez equalled Mick Doohan’s record for most wins in a season with a win in Malaysia. The World Champion took his 12th win of 2014 in somewhat fortuitous circumstances. From pole position he missed the start but the man who looked most likely to win, Dani Pedrosa, took himself out of contention by falling for no obvious reason. Then Valentino Rossi, who had worked his way past team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, simply couldn’t quite keep a rampant Marquez at bay. Rossi held out Lorenzo, who’d opted for the harder front tyre, for second place, while fourth should have gone to Cal Crutchlow. For the second week in a row the Brit starred, only to be stopped this time by an electrical problem, leaving stefan Bradl to take fourth ahead of Bradley smith and Pol espargaro. A week earlier at Phillip Island Rossi had pulled off a remarkable win, coming from eighth on the grid to take his second victory of 2014. Rossi managed his front tyre better than most of the opposition, in a race that saw many of the contenders fall. The Doctor led a Yamaha 1-2-3 result, with Lorenzo taking second ahead of smith. Crutchlow fell on the final lap while running an impressive second, while Marquez and both espargaros also tumbled out of contention, all with front tyre-related loss of grip ....
