Rossi’s first-lap error, taking out De Puniet, has opened up the championship again ... M oto GP DUTCH TT >> after John Hopkins (Kawasaki) and Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki) were injured in practice, and lost another when Alex de Angelis crashed his San Carlos Honda one corner later on the first lap. Edwards injected excitement after being slowed by Rossi’s crash, and riding through from near last place. Anthony West (Kawasaki) was following at a distance when he too crashed out. Andrea Dovizioso (JIR Scot Honda) won a three-way battle for fifth, and then had to fend off Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha), who had come through in the later laps; Chris Vermeulen (Rizla Suzuki) saved seventh ahead of Shinya Nakano (San Carlos Honda). James Toseland (Tech 3 Yamaha) was a disconsolate ninth, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli (Alice Ducati). Rossi was still eight seconds adrift in 11th; there were only 13 finishers. 33
