>>F1 INSIGHT Driver’s eye view of Valencia Spanish GP2 star Javier Villa gives GPWeek viewers an exclusive insight into F1’s newest circuit COMING from the main straight, the first corner is quite fast, probably flat out in qualifying, and approximately 290 km/h. After the first corner we are approaching the first chicane. Coming in 5th gear we will have to drop to 2nd, but it’s not very tricky, you just have to try to brake as late as possible and place the car for the second chicane, which is more difficult than the first one since the car could have a little bit of oversteer. It is very important to make an appropriate approach to the next corner to have enough speed for the little straight before the bridge. The entrance of the bridge could be a good overtaking point. The exit of the bridge is one of the sharpest points of the circuit and it’s very important to finish it with a good speed for the next long straight. It will be 2nd gear. We will arrive to the third chicane after this long straight at 300 km/h and it will be a good overtaking point since the first part of the corner is very sharp. It’s the strongest brake point of the track. The exit of the chicane has nothing special and it’s followed by two fast left hand corners before the hairpin. This is the start of the prettiest part of the track and the most challenging part as well. We will approach the hairpin at 290 Km/h with no time to think because the next corner is really close and it’s followed by two really fast right hand corners before the last part of the circuit. A left-right corner to approach the last corner in which you have to put the car straight to prepare the braking and find the main straight. 27
