>>Moto GPnews re rule Pedrosa walk-out delays pneumo debut DANI Pedrosa’s Brno testing walk-out – his second early departure in two races – meant that he turned his back on the chance to ride the latest pneumatic-valve-spring Honda. His first test of the latest iteration of the machine Hayden has used for the last four races was rescheduled a fortnight later, after next weekend’s Misano race. One advantage is that his injury will be further recovered, but it was another set-back to a machine and a team already in some disarray, with Hayden absent injured after an ill-starred ‘fun race’ accident. Hayden’s days at the team are in any case numbered, with a switch to Ducati now certain. The day before a dismal Dani had slammed Michelin and described his race to a downbeat 15th as “embarrassing”. Pedrosa, his left finger still in a brace when off the bike, returned for testing duties on Monday, but after trying some different front tyres Michelin had for the test, “we finished after a few laps because we couldn’t find any improvement,” he said. He had used his race bike rather than the pneumo prototype. There was no point using “the pneumatico”, he said: “because the tyres weren’t working well enough.” Former GP winner and factory tester Tadayuki Okada was left to continue testing alone on the machine he has been developing in Japan. And the loyal veteran suggested that Pedrosa had missed out on a good chance, on a machine with new engine and electronic developments. Okada raced as a wild card at Mugello before handing the higher-revving and more powerful machine on to Hayden, while Pedrosa stuck with the familiar steel-valve- spring machine. The American was robbed of a certain podium finish at Assen when an electronic glitch meant he ran out of fuel on the last corner. “Since the Italian race, the bike has improved a lot,”said Okada, citing both mechanical and electronic development. “I think it has reached a satisfactory level. I hope that Dani will be able to test it soon.” 13
