>>Moto GPINDIANAPOLIS No direction home When the going gets tough, race direction gets tougher. So it was when head honcho Paul Butler, tasked with making a Grand Prix grand and a race result stand, called a halt to the inaugural Indianapolis MotoGP event in the interests of both rider and crowd safety. “The race was stopped because we had a lot of structural issues with the track,”he said. “It was signage blowing down, it was tents blowing away, it was Astroturf in the corners rising up and risking blowing onto the track. So we stopped for safety reasons. “And having stopped it for safety, we couldn’t run the 250cc for exactly the same reason. “I’m disappointed because the track staff put in such an incredible job. They kept to the time schedule perfectly, and I feel so sorry for them particularly, but obviously the fans, because a lot of them came out in not entirely attractive conditions and got slightly short-changed. “Hopefully next time we’ll all be able to enjoy it a lot more, because people deserve nothing except that.
