> AWARDS> GPWeek Awards The coveted 2008 WHEN we launched GPWeek in March 2008, we attempted to do something which hadn’t ever been done before – take the very different worlds of Formula 1, MotoGP and the World Rally Championship, and combine them into one weekly virtual magazine. It was to be something new, something individual … something unique. And so, when the time came to reflect on this season past, and to award those who ply their trade in the categories covered within the pages of our magazine, we decided that the awards should be just as special … just as individual. We figured that the best people to decide the winners, should be those whose exploits we have the pleasure of reporting to you every week. It is they who know how it feels to compete at the highest levels and they who know what marks out the truly great. It should be they who decide the winners. And so it was that we asked the 2008 fields of Formula 1, MotoGP and the WRC to cast their votes for the drivers and riders in the categories in which they did not compete themselves, who had impressed them the most this year.
