GP Week : Issue 51
> F1NEWS> al Update: Round 8 2 of the end plate and two little horizontal sections under it. This new solution was used only on Friday, in a direct comparison to the standard (old) one. It is likely we will see them again in Germany as the solution is considered good, but more testing is needed. 3 - Toyota/Ferrari front winglets Even though the two elements differ slightly in terms of secondary function, as in the case of the Toyota, this element also plays the role of stiffening the vertical fence placed under the main profile of the wing. It is interesting to note that both the teams adopted small curved winglets placed on the rearmost upper edge of the front wing endplates. These elements, aerodynamically speaking, play the role of diverting the airflow passing close to the endplates, out of the turbulence generated by the rotation of the front wheels, hence improving the efficiency of the front wing in the fast corners. 3 13
