GP Week : Issue 58
>>WRCnews Solberg out of Rally Oz PETTER Solberg has reluctantly withdrawn from Repco Rally Australia. An entry was lodged shortly before the closing time, but then notice was given that the team would not be able to take part. Difficulty with availability of parts is the main reason given for the decision. This will be only the second out of 167 successive World Championship rallies that he and co-driver Phil Mills have had to miss. Meanwhile, plans to contest the two final rounds of the 2009 World Rally Championship (Spain and Great Britain) are going ahead. returns to Citroen BELGIAN co-driver Stephane Prevot is to partner Russian Citroen Junior team driver Evgeniy Novikov for the rest of the season. They will start together on the Barum Rally, the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event that Novikov will contest privately in a Skoda Fabia S2000, before tackling the Spain and Great Britain World Championship events with Citroen. Prevot competed in six rallies with Citroen in 2005 with Francois Duval, parting company after an accident in Cyprus that year. He will replace Dale Moscatt, which leaves Australia with no competitors on the eve of the country’s return to the WRC schedule. However, Novikov had not planned to compete in Australia anyway.
