GP Week : Issue 59
> F1NEWS> Grosjean promotion to cause GP2 shake-up ROMAIN Grosjean’s expected promotion to the Renault F1 Team in place of the departed Nelson Piquet is set to spark the first major driver changes of the 2009 GP2 Series season. Should Renault’s appeal against its ban from the European Grand Prix prove successful today (Monday) then GPWeek expects the Franco-Swiss driver to be confirmed as a Renault driver within 24 hours. His move up to Formula 1 leaves his #2 Addax car free and, as GPWeek reported in Issue 54 (July 13 2009), Italian Davide Valsecchi will move to the team to partner Vitaly Petrov. Valsecchi has already been released by the Durango GP2 team for whom he has competed for the past season and a half following a request from his management. Carlos Iaconelli and Marco Bonanomi are the favourites to replace Valsecchi at Durango, although all of these movements could be put on hold if Renault loses its appeal and Grosjean continues with Addax for one final weekend.
