GP Week : Issue 75
contest the full WRC as the third driver in the BP team, driving his usual Focus RS WRC. Then came the news that the FIA had removed the event in Saudi Arabia from the MERC calendar, reducing the size of the 2010 MERC series, and thereby threatening Khalid's chances of the title if he missed out on the Jordan event as well. World Rally Cars are not admitted in the MERC, so he arranged to drive his Fiesta S2000 on his event instead of a World Rally Car, but by now it was too late to amend his WRC entry! He therefore had to cancel the entry for the three-day WRC event. And then, of course, the Saudi event was reinstated. .. Making first appearances of the season in the PCWRC will be Nick Georgiou, who is one of the five Pirelli Star Driver competitors whose season officially begins two weeks later in Turkey, and also the Tommi Makinen team whose entry this time will be taken by Cypriot Spyros Pavlides. A recent PCWRC championship registration has come from the Uspenskiy team from Russia, whose car on this event is to be driven by Swedish driver Patrik Flodin, who has already appeared in Sweden as a Guest entrant. Flodin is having an exceptional season, having enjoyed four victories in four events -- two in Sweden, one in Russia and one in the very far north of China. On this event, Amjad Farrah has been nominated as the organisers' PCWRC Guest. In the SWRC, this event will see the first regular appearance of PG Andersson in a 44
