GP Week : Issue 91
Sunday afternoon's race at Brands. Having started fifth on the grid, Palmer was defending from Stoneman after just two laps. Stoneman tried to take Palmer on the inside going into Paddock Hill bend at the start of lap 3, but there wasn't enough room for both, they collided and Palmer retired on the spot, having got beached in the gravel. Stoneman eventually took the chequered flag in third place, but a 20- second post-race penalty for colliding with Palmer knocked him down to 13th and outside the points. The penalty keeps Palmer's five-point champioship lead in tact going into the final three rounds, with F2 now set to visit Brno in the Czech Republic, Oschersleben in Germany and Valencia in Spain between now and September to decide the destination of this year 's crown. If the first six races are anything to go by, the final three are sure to be nail-biting action-packed thrillers, as the sport's best and fastest youngsters look to make their mark and prove they are worthy of a shot at Formula One and the biggest of all big-shot formula racing. While Formula One's three-team battle at the front is proving to be as exciting as ever, Formula Two's two- driver dust-up is sure to entertain in equal measure. All Formula Two races can be watched live and for free on the F2 website at www.formulatwo.com, the next of which takes place in a fortnight's time on July 31/August 1. F2 FEATURE >> 27
