F1 NEWS >> Singapore 2008 still a sore point for Felipe FELIPE Massa still blames fellow countryman Nelson Piquet Jr. for losing out on the 2008 Formula One drivers' championship -- so says the former Renault driver. Massa fell just one point short of Hamilton after 18 rounds in 2008, but believes he would have won the title had Piquet not crashed deliberately in Singapore to help then Renault team- mate Fernando Alonso win the race. "I got along well either with Felipe Massa and with Rubens Barrichello," Piquet said in an interview with Istoé. "Both always treated me very well, gave me tips on tracks I knew less, we sat together on the drivers meetings. It was very amicable. "It changed a lot [after Singapore 2008]." Massa was leading the race when the Safety Car was deployed for Piquet's crash, with a mistake by the Ferrari pitcrew in the resulting pitstop putting Massa to the back of the field. Piquet revealed that Massa still blames him for losing the 2008 crown. "Massa was very upset with me because he thinks, to this day, that he lost the 2008 championship because of me," Piquet continued. "It is no use arguing that he had a DNF in Hungary, that he and Ferrari made mistakes. Not to mention his lack of luck. For the love of God, that last lap in Interlagos was pure luck for Hamilton and bad luck for him. "But he is still very upset. I understand, but I don't suffer much with it anymore. I have never talked to him again. We stumble upon each other every now and then, but we don't keep on touch." Piquet: Massa still blames me for 2008 title loss 7
