First was Mathieu Arzeno but his Citroen C2’s engine stalled and it took a long time before it would restart. Then came Thierry Neuville who led for nearly a day before he had a slow puncture and lost time. Hans Weijs took over but he became one of three of the four top drivers to puncture on Stage 15. The missing one was the Guest driver Jeremi Ancian, who went on to victory in his Suzuki. Kevin Abbring’s challenge ended with a big accident for the second rally running. Still leading the series is Aaron Burkart, who had an appalling rally where he was off the pace right from the start, from Weijs and the 17 year-old Estonian Karl Kruuda, all still able to be champion 49
