GP Week : Issue 170
ANNOUNCEMENT GPWEEK magazine is deep into its fifth ‘season’, keeping you informed, on a weekly basis, on everything that’s relevant – news, coverage, comment, analysis – in F1, MotoGP and World Rallying. The GPWEEK crew loves the immediacy with which we are able to bring what we reckon is a cutting- edge, quality weekly publication to you, early Monday US/UK time, later in the day further east around the globe. GPWEEK is a truly international, digital magazine, not a website, or a blog; a full-on read, full of quality journalism, both of the written word and photographically, from some of the very best motorsport writers and photographers around the globe – and the feedback we get from you suggests you like what we do. But we need your help. As internet publishing has evolved, it has done so in two clear forms: (a) Available free online, relying on corporate advertising/sponsorship funding; (b) Reader subscription. GPWEEK has, since its inception, gone with the first option. It is the option initially pioneered by the ‘Big Boys’, such as News Ltd, globally but, as time has gone by, even Mr Murdoch has had to concede that the much-hyped benefits of online advertising/marketing haven’t lived up to the promise. You don’t have to be Einstein to note that much of the globe is struggling economically. Corporate marketing and sponsorship budgets are being slashed. Bluntly, online corporate support is like hens’ teeth. So, in order to maintain, develop and grow GPWEEK even further, we need your help – in a modest way. From next week, GPWEEK will convert to a ‘reader subscription’ system. It’ll cost less than a quid (UK pound) a week (approx US$1.50, AUS$1.45, €1.20, JPY110 a week) – half the price of a cup of coffee – to subscribe. GPWEEK publishes 40 in-season issues a year. We’re offering 'Full Season' (40-issues) subscriptions for £37.50 and 'Half Season' (20 issues) for just £19.95), easily processed on-line, which will guarantee your weekly dose of GPWEEK-style F1, MotoGP and WRC medicine. (Whatever remains of your subscription at 2012 season-end will of course carry over to the start of the 2013 season, in March 2013). Not only will that allow you to continue to enjoy the GPWEEK you’re used to, it will coincide with the imminent launch of new features – our iPad/Android apps for example – which will be available free to subscribers and further enhance the GPWEEK readership 'experience'. We plan to keep GPWEEK one step ahead, using all that modern technology offers. Take up a subscription now and, apart from the 'early-bird' discount on Full Season subscriptions, you could well end up winning one of FIVE superb Casio Edifice EQW-A1000B- 1AER watches – check out our first-up subscription promotion prize (right)! The crew at GPWEEK loves bringing you our unique publication. Its reputation around all three international motorsport spheres – F1, MotoGP and World Rally – is one of quality journalism; but like everyone, we have to pay the bills ... so we hope you’ll understand our request for just a little support from you, our readers. In return, we promise to make GPWEEK even better ...
