GP Week : Issue 170
CONFIRMED AS THIRD US GP One of two question marks in next year’s provisional calendar has been replaced with a tick after the Circuit of the Americas last Wednesday confirmed that they will run their inaugural MotoGP race as the third round in 2013. With Laguna Seca and Indianapolis both also on the calendar, this means three races in the USA, putting the hitherto peripheral nation second only to Spain, which has four GPs scheduled as usual, at Jerez (subject to contract), Catalunya, Aragon and Valencia. With the usual two Italian races at Mugello and Misano, this means that half the 18-race calendar takes place in only three countries. The Austin race takes place on April 21. The remaining question concerns the previous weekend, where the revived Argentine GP at the new Termas de Rio Hondo circuit is pencilled in. The World Superbike calendar was released at the weekend, confirming that the now Dorna-run series has stolen a march on MotoGP, with the first world championship race at the Buddh circuit near New Delhi.
