GP Week : Issue 188
5 MINUTES Andrea Dovizioso – continued The engine seems good. Is it time to start again with the chassis? We have to improve everything. Is difficult to separate the engine because many things happen at the same time and is difficult to understand how much is the engine, how much is the electronics, why we have the pumping – is it the chassis or the swing-arm? We are working toward this. Is there any particular thing you ask for? No, no. What I have to do is just explain as best as I can the problems. I think for riders to say what the engineers have to do is wrong. We come from completely different worlds. We can’t know really how to make the things. We are good to understand the bike and feel the bike. The important thing is to give the feedback in the right way, but we have to stop there. I can say everything from my experience with Yamaha and Honda, but just about the feeling from the bike. Next year, Crutchlow is coming to Ducati, your old team-mate from last year. I am happy with the coming of Cal. I already did one year with him. He is a really fast rider. Sure this year he improved a little bit. I am interested to see how he will be with a different bike, because he never raced a different bike. Did you discuss the move with him before he signed? Not many things, because he didn’t really ask me, Just a couple of things. Do riders listen to one another anyway? I have no problem to speak to my team-mate. Him as a team-mate is a good person for me. I am not like some riders, trying to be closed off. If you are better and you beat me, that’s it. And any advice for him now, now that the decision is made? (laughs again) To be calm and relax at the beginning, because for sure it is not like a Yamaha at this moment. The Japanese bikes and the Ducati are really different. Not worse or better, but completely different. So you have to approach it step by step. 19 GPWEEK.com // 19 GPWEEK.com // PARTNERS:
