GP Week : Issue 204
THE MOMENT... Continuing the Austrian theme, Jochen Rindt, Cooper Maserati T81, started his final year with Cooper at the South African Grand Prix, at Kyalami, on January 2, 1967. It produced a DNF – in fact, he only finished two races all year, then left for Brabham, then Lotus. He died at Monza, in 1970, having accumulated enough points to be F1's only posthumous world champion. (Sutton Images archive 1960-2014.
